Aspects of the mechanism of the flame ionization detector
نویسنده
چکیده
The development of flame ionization detection took place on an empirical basis without a clear understanding of the 1 mechanism. The study of flames by mass spectrometry showed that the all-important ion was the formylium ion CHO . The pre-combustion degradation was thought to be a pyrolytic degradation and hydrogenation at the high temperatures obtained close to the combustion zone. Using a capillary probe inside the flame it was recently shown that a degradation of all hydrocarbons to methane takes place at low temperatures by the reaction of hydrogen atoms which are generated in the 2 burning hydrogen. The effects of heteroatoms and of H substitution was studied by the same method. 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Determination of valproic acid in human plasma using dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction followed by gas chromatography-flame ionization detection
Objective(s): Dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction coupled with gas chromatography (GC)-flame ionization detector was developed for the determination of valproic acid (VPA) in human plasma. Materials and Methods: Using a syringe, a mixture of suitable extraction solvent (40 µl chloroform) and disperser (1 ml acetone) was quickly added to 10 ml of diluted plasma sample containing VPA (pH, 1....

In this study, Iran crude oil samples (K, L) were separated on the basis of solubility and polarity, resulting in saturates, aromatics, resins, and asphaltenes fractions. The fractions were analyzed by traditional open column chromatography, thin layer chromatography-Flame ionization detector in an Itroscan instrument (TLC-FID) and Gas chromatography with flame ionization detection for the dete...
متن کاملAnalysis of Hydrocarbons in a Hydrogen Atmosphere by Gas Chromatography with Flame Ionization
The ionization response of hydrocarbons In a hydrogen-atmosphere flame was compared to that of a normal flame ionization detector used in gas chromatography. Absolute response in the hydrogen-atmosphere flame lonizatlon detector (HAFID) was found to be two orders of magnitude less than that of the normal FID. This reduced response is attributed both to oxidation of hydrocarbons in the precombus...
متن کاملDetermination of 2-phenylethanol in Rose Water Using Dispersive Liquid-Liquid Microextraction with Gas Chromatography Flame Ionization Detection
A simple and rapid microextraction procedure based on dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) coupled with gas chromatography-flame ionization detection (GC-FID) was developed for the extraction and analysis of 2-phenylethanol in rose water sample. In the proposed approach, carbon tetrachloride and ethanol were used as extraction and dispersive solvents, respectively. Some important pa...
متن کاملRemoval of total petroleum hydrocarbons from polluted urban soils of the outskirts of Ahvaz, southwestern Iran
Earlier phases of economic expansion and urban development have resulted in significant sources of urban soil contamination. Petroleum hydrocarbons are one of the most common groups of persistent organic contaminants in the environment. In this study, two types of treatment in 3 concentrations were prepared that were included plant treated by 1% oil pollution, treatment by 1% contamination with...
